AH I HAVE FAILED MYSELF!!! OTL

Because of time constraints (and contributors being too busy) , I'm dropping the idea of making a doujin for CF... no MH doujin TT__TT. I'll channel my funds to merchandise instead, aim to sell out!!! *A*

Still deciding what merchandise to make, anyone got particular requests?

9 Ukiyo-e, -1 Islamic, -9 Impressionist, -13 Cubist, -8 Abstract and 2 Renaissance!

Ukiyo-e (浮世絵, Ukiyo-e), "pictures of the floating world", is a genre of Japaneseand paintings produced between the 17th and the 20th centuries. it mostly featured landscapes, historic tales, theatre, and pleasure. Ukiyo is a rather impetuous urban culture that has bloomed in popularity. Although the Japanese were more strict and had many prohibitions it did not affect the rising merchant class and therefore became a floating art form that did not bind itself to the normal ideals of society.

People that chose Ukiyo-e art tend to be more simplistic yet elegant. They don't care much about new style but are comfortable in creating their own. They like the idea of living for the moment and enjoy giving and receiving pleasure. They may be more agreeable than other people and do not like to argue. They do not mind following traditions but are not afraid to move forward to experience other ideas in life. They tend to enjoy nature and the outdoors. They do not mind being more adventurous in their sexual experiences. They enjoy being popular and like being noticed. They have their own unique style of dress and of presenting themselves. They may also tend to be more business oriented or at the very least interested in money making adventures. They might make good entrepreneurs. They are progressive and adaptable.

you are khaki
#F0E68C

Your dominant hues are red and green, so you're definately not afraid to get in and stir things up. You have no time for most people's concerns, you'd rather analyze with your head than be held back by some random "gut feeling".

Your saturation level is lower than average - You don't stress out over things and don't understand people who do. Finishing projects may sometimes be a challenge, but you schedule time as you see fit and the important things all happen in the end, even if not everyone sees your grand master plan.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.

Need to keep fit edi *o*

Tomorrow I'm going to Putrajaya with my dear to register for marriage... apparently you have to go register first, then wait about a month for their process, then they call you back with your family for the solemnization. >_> I thought it was supposed to be immediate. Anyway more time to lose weight and... [info]yan_desu  cepat balik ohhhhhhhhh~~~~

You know, my house cat has started watching TV after my dad swapped our old one for a huge HDTV. She watches ANYTHING, even news. I wonder if she knows it's a TV or thinks it's a box of people. There was one time she actually meowed at me as soon as I switched off the TV when she was watching. *A* spoiled kitty...

Ah the trick to play angry cat videos on TV to kacau her only worked once... but apparently snakes attacking the camera on Animal Planet produces the same effect as well =D. Ah so much fun... *evil smirk*

Next big step in life.

Sometimes, life surprises you with sudden turn of events. That just happened to me last week.

My boyfriend Eric, his mother is currently very very ill, doc says prospects don't look so good. So Eric and I are asked to push forward our marriage registration. We'll register as soon as we can, but we lack the funds to hold the ceremony anytime soon. Unfortunately when we do hold the ceremony/dinner, which the earliest possible chance would be 9 months later and latest is 2 years, his mother might, at that time, be unable to attend the ceremony at all. His dad, well the whole family currently boycotts him for certain reasons that is not necessary to reveal here.

It's unfortunate that I spent quite an amount of money before the news landed (I got a PS3, a sewing machine, a dressform dummy, total spendings about 2k+), but what's done is done. Cosplays, after this CF and the next GACC, I will retire until I have enough backup funds. This year's CF plans have all already kickstart, so they will go on.

Honestly when the news landed, I was depressed. Depressed that I will not have that happy dream wedding I've always dreamed of, that now my wedding will be tinged with sadness instead of being all blissful. But after settling down and slapping by selfish self, I decided I will make the best of it, and if I plan properly it will still be an event I will be happy about.

I'll be doing the traditional wedding photoshoot before January, looking forward to it, now need to lose some weight and fix myself up A LOT *A*. After CF, I will dedicate my spare time to planning the wedding, customizing it as much as I can, and when the date is confirmed, I will send the good news out ^^

Walk Down Memory Lane pt.1

Part 1 because I'm sure eventually I'll be making more entries of these. =)

Being an 80's child, I grew up during the golden age of animation, I've watched so many and as the years go by many have been forgotten, but some time ago me and another friend my age scoured youtube for memories of animation that we enjoyed growing up to. I make this entry here to remind myself of why cartoons nowadays are so soulless and pales in comparison, and also I hope to share these out and I wonder if anyone remembers these as well. LJ cut for mass youtube video spam!

Malaysia - Ethics? What ethics?

Last Monday, I have to get myself down to KL Plaza by 7pm for an appointment. I left my house 2 hours early to take a bus with a friend, boarded bus at 5.30 in Genting Klang. The nightmare begins when the bus arrives near Kotaraya.

WALL.E IS HEART WRENCHINGLY AWESOME

I just watched Wall.E yesterday, my god I have not felt so moved by 3D silver screen animation for AGES. It was so many things... funny, heartwarming, harsh, and I teared a little at the end. This pwns Pixar's previous animation Ratatouille and Kung-Fu Panda FLAT (Kung-fu Panda is awesome in it's own way, but it can not top Wall.E) It's been so long since good animation is released in the cinemas... there's been loads of disappointment in the last few years (Over the Hedge, The Wild [this takes the cake on animation without soul], Bee Movie, Madagascar, Monster House, etc.). Pixar you guys are finally awesome again. The animated short shown before the movie starts was also one of the best I've seen. Thank you Pixar for creating something so beautiful and moving again, I haven't felt this since watching Finding Nemo.

Another animation I'm still waiting for this year is Ponyo, Ghibli's latest masterpiece. Ghibli is currently the last standing beacon for 2D animated films (rumor has it Disney will be going back to 2D, but who knows how long they'll stay that way), and I've always been partial to 2D animation. There's that magic touch 2D always have that 3D can never achieve, it's been really sad when I see that transition of 2D animated movies to 3D for the western side... nowadays it's all 3D. I know that 2D requires a lot more money to produce and studios would want to save up that money for other better purposes, but I really wish they would still release hand drawn animated movies occasionally.

However what pains me more than all this is the comments I see when viewing the Ponyo trailer in youtube and in other sites, many people complaining Ponyo is too childish and Miyazaki is screwing the mature audience and making kiddie stuff. They want more Spirited Away and Mononoke kind of storytelling. Dangit people you guys really don't understand the beauty of Ponyo. It's much harder to create a simple but enchanting story than an emo and serious one. I've always loved Miyazaki's works, especially the ones that are simple yet magical. My favourite Ghibli animation has always been Whisper of the Heart, which many people find absolutely boring, but I find it really touching. I'm still waiting for Ponyo's DVD release, I've been trying so hard holding myself back from downloading the horrible cams to watch it. Damn Malaysia cinemas, why won't you guys air Ponyo?! D=

I can't wait to see next year's academy awards for Best Animation. I expect Wall.E and Kung-Fu Panda to be nominated, but I hope Ponyo gets nominated too.

Cosfest 08 plans

My personality type: the dreamy idealist

I want more free time in my life!! ><

But really life's been a slump lately, I want some excitement, but I'm too busy with work to do anything else (besides occasional Monster Hunting for stress relief).

I'm going to try and make it for Cosfest this year... will be going with a friend. Anyone can recommend me a place to stay and which bus service to take? I'll be heading down with another friend.

...and it sucks that the hotel I was initially booking is full already... TT__TT Hope there's a spot open within the next 2 weeks.

Monster Hunter doujin for CF

After seeing that disappointment that is Monster Hunter Orage and the severe lack of MH love in Malaysia, I've decided to shove the idea of a Gurren Lagann BL doujin aside (I'm sure somebody else will take this up, I mean, GL is pretty popular with the girls) and go for a Monster Hunter doujin (no BL don't worry, seeing as the main fanbase is guys I don't want to chase them away from buying the doujin).

For now it's a solo project, but I'm open for contributions... especially from you, Atticus. XP

Will go into details later once I have things settled.

2008 cosplay plans and fandom meme

Gonna be a busy month with freelance work... anyway 2008 cosplay plans are set (then again you know I'm fickle... might actually change, but once I start making them then it's definitely set). Yes I'm being a little ambitious after 2 years of not cosplaying. Tadaa~~!! :

So far Nia is the furthest in progress since I've ordered the wig... but I won't be getting her contacts the way they are (USD300 a piece?! I can never afford that!), most likely using plain blue-green. Hopefully I can make these 4 cosplays happen, if not all within this year then one or two will be brought forward to 2009.

Yes notice the blonde hair trend? I love blonde hair... I have no idea WHY. At least I can reuse the wigs and contacts.

After reviving my LJ... there's LOTS of meme that I want to do... XD This one also I copypasta from lurking around people's LJ...

Blardy mosquitoes

I swear, those mosquitoes in my house, they must be some sort of smart organization. There's at least 3 every day at my computer table. I do freelance work, thus I spend 70% of my time at the computer table, and I'm like this mosquito buffet. Some people can feel the mosquito land and bite, but I only feel it after they're long done and it starts to itch. I get 3 to 5 bites daily. I've tried mosquito coil and Sheildtox, but they still come back after the smell goes away (house being small and computer's in the living room, I don't want to do this too often as it will disturb other family members).  I wear tracks, they can still bloody pierce through the fabric and bite or aim at the unprotected areas like feet and elbows.  If I leave my computer, they just sit and hide and wait for me to come back. They seem to KNOW I must come back.  *grumbles*

When my cat sleeps near the computer, I don't see mosquitoes targeting my cat. Does fur work that well?

Put me in the same room with my sis and bf or anyone else I know, I'm the only one who gets the mosquito bites. It's been like that since I was young. Do I smell that good to mosquitoes? TT___TT

Movie meme

I saw this in someone's journal... looks very interesting I wanted to do it too. XD *copypasta*

They say that if you've seen over 85 films, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this on to your own LJ. Then, put x's next to the films you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun.
